Overhead Rail Crossing

Mt. Pleasant, Texas

Services: Project Coordination, Architectural Engineering

Building Activities: Airplane Storage, Maintenance & Restoration, Community Gatherings

Status: Completed 2016

Description: PCD designed a 32,000 square foot airplane hangar and flight museum located in Mount Pleasant, TX. The hangar houses vintage aircraft owned by the Mid-America Flight Museum. This project featured a wide clear span, arched roof structure, with a spread footing and heated slab-on-grade foundation. PCD coordinated and lead a team of architects and engineers to complete the design and to administer the project’s construction.

Steel Tube Mill

Mt. Pleasant, Texas

Services:

Project Coordination, Architectural Engineering

Building Activities: Industrial Tube Mill, Production, Warehouse Storage

Status: Completed 2017

Description: PCD has designed a series of 39,200 square foot buildings to support a steel tube mill facility. This project was outfitted with a series of 35-ton overhead bridge cranes, capable of maneuvering 60,000-pound coils of steel throughout the entire footprint of the buildings. The buildings are “expandable” – designed to share columns as they expand in width and in length. Due to the high magnitudes of the lateral crane loads, the columns were designed with “fixed” bases. This led to large baseplates and anchors, requiring precise installation. Working closely with the concrete subcontractor, attention to detail led to speedy and trouble-free erection of the complex. Other structural features include large drilled pier foundations, heavy slabs-on-grade for carrying stacked coils of steel and masonry control rooms within the facility. Instead of having traditional gutters and downspouts, this building is equipped with internal gutters tied to underground storm systems which lead to an above-ground storm water retention pond. The complex currently stands at 206,400 square feet – and growing. PCD provided all required civil, structural and architectural engineering as well as administration of the construction.

ProFrac

Odessa, Texas

Services:

Project Coordination, Structural Engineering
